Flatland helps companies put AI to work, enter Japan and expand overseas, from planning through execution.
Based in Osaka, we work with clients in Japan and worldwide.
We don’t stop at research and proposals.
We see it through and make it stick.
Whether it’s AI adoption or overseas expansion, results depend on putting plans into action and making them take hold, inside the company and in the market. Beyond planning, Flatland takes on AI implementation, negotiations on the ground and getting the first deals under way.
For development and on-site work, we bring in specialist partners as each project requires, while you deal with a single point of contact. We use AI extensively in our own research and documentation, so we can move quickly and keep costs down.
Our two core businesses are AI adoption and market entry, both into Japan and out to the world.
AI Adoption
We connect AI with your existing systems to handle routine work, and put the time saved into work that drives revenue. From assessment and development to in-house AI environments, operation and measuring results, we handle it end to end.
Market Entry
We help overseas companies enter the Japanese market, and Japanese companies expand into Europe, the US, China and Southeast Asia: from market research, trade shows and finding partners to launching and running operations on the ground.
Other activities
Investing in growth-stage companies and taking part in their management and operations. Each opportunity is considered individually.
Ongoing monthly advice on new ventures and management challenges.
Pricing
The first consultation is free. Once the scope and timeline are agreed, we quote a fixed price.
Free · about 3 minutes · no sign-up
Answer nine questions and get, on the spot, where you stand, how many hours AI could free up, and the uses of AI to start with.
If any of these sound familiar, get in touch.
Projects we’ve worked on. Alongside client work, they include projects we joined as an investor or as part of the launch team, and our own projects.
Japan Entry
Took part in bringing an overseas spatial digital twin SaaS (built on 3D Gaussian Splatting) to Japan. Handled incorporation, trade shows and finding partners, through to the start of business in Japan.
Overseas Expansion
For overseas sales of Japanese trading card games (TCG), sourced buyers and acted as the single point of contact for the whole sales process. Supported the first three transactions, then built a system to automate the ones that followed.
Strategic Investment
Invested in a company that develops and manages TikTok LIVE creators, and took a hands-on role in running it.
Advisory
Advising a Western company on Japan’s market potential and how to approach entry.
AI in Practice
We used generative AI to make our own website: design, 3D imagery, copy and translation in three languages, and layout checks.
Announcements, press releases and our quarterly economic reports.
Whether it’s AI, entering Japan, expanding abroad or a new venture, you’re welcome to reach out even before your plans have taken shape. The first consultation is free.
